Applications Engineer
Position Description: Looking for an Applications Engineer to join our engineering team. Responsibilities include:
• Understand and apply industry standards and first-order principles related to thermal processing to real world problems with the aim of improving customer’s processing performance.
• Quickly obtain an expert level understanding of design standards, products, and processes and develop manufacturable thermal processing solutions and concepts utilizing Solidworks and Excel.
• Develop sales drawings from concepts as needed.
• Develop cost estimates for concepts, modified, and standardized products.
• Generated new equipment and retrofit proposals.
• Develop working relationships with key components vendors in order to leverage their expertise as needed.
• Support sales team by serving as a Technical Expert in the presentation of concepts, understanding customer challenges, and suggesting opportunities for improvement.
• Support sales team by developing and presenting product features, functions, and benefits.
• Develop sales tools, including: Datasheets, ROI calculators, Proposal Generation Tools, Quote Templates Product presentations, Application Notes, and Product Roadmap Presentations.
• Identify gaps in equipment / options offering to primary markets.
• Remain current in machinery trends and technical developments affecting target markets.
Qualifications
• General knowledge of electrical/mechanical machinery, preferably in the heat processing or related industry is required.
• BSME and 2-5 years relevant technical experience or equivalent demonstrable skills in place of BSME.
• Experience in applications engineering specific to capital equipment.
• Understanding of the heat processing or other capital equipment industry.
• Proven ability to develop technical requirements into tangible concepts and products
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic understanding of sales negotiations.
• Basic cost accounting skills.
• Ability to work in teams and individually.
• Working knowledge of electrical/mechanical machinery.
• Knowledge of manufacturing engineering procedures.
• Intermediate test and debug skills in hardware, software, and mechanics.
• Strong written communications skills, including engineering test procedure, plans, reports and operating manuals.
