Role Description:
As a member of our development team, you will contribute to the advancement of existing RDI products and also to the creation of new products not yet released to the market. The This application engineer will consult with our customers to communicate their product needs to our development team and demonstrate software products to our customers when required.
Application Engineer responsibilities include providing technical support to our customers and assisting our sales team with software demonstrations and prototypes throughout the sales process. This person will work directly with our software development team and provide support for our sales team and customers as needed.

The This application engineer will consult with our customers to communicate their product needs to our development team and demonstrate software products to our customers when required.
Application Engineer responsibilities include providing technical support to our customers and assisting our sales team with software demonstrations and prototypes throughout the sales process. This person will work directly with our software development team and provide support for our sales team and customers as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide customers with technical support as needed and relay information to our development team for ongoing maintenance and update needs
- Optimize applications by integrating new technologies and performing upgrades
- Contribute to sales presentations, as well as demonstrating prototypes and completed applications
- Perform diagnostic tests and debugging procedures on customer systems
- Generate ideas for software innovation based on market trends
- Find solutions for customer-specific applications
- Keep up with advancements in application engineering and new technologies
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field is required.
- At least 2-3 years related Application Engineer experience or similar role.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members, vendors and management.
- Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills to be able to use software and to explain the software.
- Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the organization and the industry.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Knowledge and experience using project management software.
- Previous experience in sales or customer service is advantageous
- Extensive experience in deploying, optimizing and maintaining software
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
- Superb collaboration and communication
- Great organization and time management
- Relevant training and/or certifications as an Application Engineer
- Process engineering background or work experience in industrial facilities
- Project management experience and/or certification
- This position is intended to be a full-time, 40 hours/week.
- Located in the Knoxville, TN RDI headquarters.
