Cirrus Logic's Mixed Signal Product Division is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join our high performance team of engineers supporting our haptics boosted amplifier products. You will be part of a talented pool of engineers who are pioneers in next-generation haptics solutions that go into smartphones, tablets, laptops, wearables, gaming products, automotive applications and more.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct engineering support for Cirrus Logic customers and field application engineers
- Lead the design of the customer development boards required for the productization of new haptics products
- Develop customer collateral such as application notes and tech reports
- Support the design and review of customers PCB schematics and layouts
- Execute customer-application focused data collection and circuit analysis
- Support the definition, design, validation and tuning of haptics closed loop algorithms
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross functionals teams around the world to support customer requests, this includes working with IC Design engineers, Systems engineers, Validation engineers, Test Engineers, Software engineers and others
- Collaborate closely with software teams to define, implement and validate new tools and firmware features.
- Drive the development of demos to promote new haptics products and features
- Partner with Marketing teams to promote new haptics products during customer visits and conferences
- Lead customer and field team technical trainings
- Autonomously handle and prioritize tasks with strong sense of ownership and high sense of urgency
- Travel approximately 4 times per year, domestically and/or abroad
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- BS in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years or MS in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of Applications or Systems Engineering experience supporting haptics/audio/sensor products
- Experience in power electronics, digital signal processing and microcontrollers and/or DSP programming
- Proven experience debugging customer system level issues
- Experience with circuit board schematic and layout design
- Demonstrated experience in the design and development of haptics/audio/sensor solutions in embedded applications
- Understanding of LRA, VCM and speaker technologies
- Experience with touch and force sensors solutions
- Proven experience with failure analysis of field returns.
- Demonstrated aptitude in system understanding of various industry interface standards such as I2C, SPI, USB, UART, I2S or high speed control/data bus
- Familiarity with scripting/programming language such as C, Python, MATLAB or similar
- Hands-on experience in lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, audio precision analyzers, logic analyzers and spectrum analyzers
- Effective interpersonal skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience working with cross functional teams and customer
- Experience with the requirements of the consumer and/or automotive market
- Proficient in writing MATLAB and Python scripts
- Extensive experience debugging hardware and software issues
- Passion for Haptics and Audio technology
- Proven experience working in a fast paced environment
