Summary: The Application Engineer is responsible for inside sales support for customers and salesmen, order entry, order acknowledgements, project submittals, deliveries, pump quotes and technical support.
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manage complex, discrete and/or sensitive projects to ensure smooth delivery to the internal or external customer
- Write quotes to customers
- Complete project assignments, as directed, within allotted time frames
- Receive customer phone and email inquires
- Provide general support to outside sales team
- Communicate with the Accounting team to resolve issues regarding invoicing, deliveries, and shipping
- Any other relevant job duties that may be assigned
Desired Education and Experience:
- Minimum: Associates or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and or prior experience in the pump industry.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps and air compressors) is a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Solid computer skills including proficiency with CAD, spreadsheet and database applications
- Must possess the ability to think and solve problems with creative understanding. Must have a good eye for detail and be able to suggest process/specification modifications as required
- Ability to organize and prioritize jobs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Specification and mechanical drawing interpretation
- Must understand pumps, air compressors and related processes
- Strong organizational abilities and project management skills
- The ability to work cooperatively with peers to achieve organizational goals
- High degree of independence, self-motivation and self-direction, especially with regard to identifying and managing high priority projects, in a fast-paced environment
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Sitting (Working at a desk) - up to 80%
- Standing - up to 30%
- Walking - up to 30%
- Lifting - up to 25 lbs. with good body mechanics (lifting devices are used for heavier loads)
- Moderate deviations of the wrists
- 1-960 hand or wrist repetitions/day
- Word processing (use of computer keyboard)
- Moderate use of both hands
- Very accurate near vision (20/20); accurate far vision (20/40)
