Job DescriptionCome to work each day with an inclusive and collaborative business technology team. As an Application Architect in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you’ll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better.
In this role you’ll be responsible for:
- Design and implement innovative solutions leveraging your architecture expertise.
- Continuously improve efficiency by optimizing existing application architecture and processes including externally and internally developed applications.
- Collaborate with multiple build teams and/or CoEs around best practices, reducing technical debt and alignment to established architectural standards.
- Provide architectural guidance to internal and external development teams.
- Possess hand-on programming experience in one or more development languages including C#, Java, or Python.
- Document and visualize application architecture, ensuring alignment with standards.
- Lead working sessions to create architecture recommendations with diverse stakeholders and create architecture and design recommendations.
- Evaluating “Fit for purpose” to drive Build vs. Buy decisions suitability to custom application development for new business demand and/or platform affinity.
- Review and evaluate feasibility of application development proposals.
- Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, or other development methodologies is necessary.
- Evaluating emerging application development standards, technologies, and practices to integrate into internal development standards and practices.
- Escalation points for intractable engineering problems encountered by dev teams.

Required
- Bachelor’s degree with 7+, Master's degree with 6+, and PhD with 2+ years of solid, diverse work experience in IT and LifeScience R&D.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication and collaboration.
- A passion for learning and staying ahead of the curve with cutting-edge technologies.
- A desire to translate real-world business problems into effective technical solutions.
