Apparel Designer - Lakai Limited Footwear

Lakai is a core skate brand with 25+ years of heritage.

We are searching for an experienced menswear technical designer to design full collections end-to-end. From forecasting trends, design, to tech specs, intaking samples, conducting fittings, and communicating with manufacturers.

Experience designing for skatewear & streetwear is mandatory for this role. Our DNA is inherently core skateboarding and your ability to forecast trends in skatewear/streetwear is extremely critical.

You will be working directly with Lakai's creative director, production manager, and graphic designers to ensure designs are created and pushed through the production process with our overseas factories.

WHO YOU ARE

• Hold a 4-year degree in apparel design (required)
• Living in LA, within transportation distance to our office in DTLA (by arts district)
• Want to see potentially 50-100 of your designs produced at scale, & sold globally.
• Understand skateboarding and/or streetwear culture and style trends

SHORT LIST OF MANDATORY SKILLS

• Mastery of adobe suite (photoshop + illustrator)
• Fitting samples & adjusting specs as necessary

• you don't want to responsibility of owning and developing several collections simultaneously
• you don't have prior experience working specifically as a designer in a fashion company
• you don't have prior interest in our niche of skatewear/streetwear, either as a consumer for personal style, or prior design work
• you don't want to come to the office at least 3 times per week

SALARY

• Full time salary of $65,000 is offered
