About the Job
Mercy Health Physicians is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner to join the Neuro Critical Care (NCC) service at St. Vincent Medical Center. This provider will deliver a full range of inpatient NCC services, working collaboratively within a patient-centered team. The role also includes facilitating patient access to care, recommending referrals, assisting in neurology resident teaching, and providing support across a variety of specialized departments including Neurosurgery, Endovascular/Stroke, and Neurology. Our department thrives on collaboration and is part of a larger Neuroscience network.
Work Schedule
- Shift: 6:00 pm - 6:00 am
- Responsibilities:
- Handoff at the beginning and end of each shift
- Collaborate with residents throughout the shift
- Manage the NCC service overnight
- Cover neurosurgery consults from the ED
- Collaborate with NCC and neurosurgery physicians on-call as needed

Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner / Midwife Requirements
- Current APN license or Physician Assistant license in the state of practice
- Written standard care arrangement for Nurse Practitioners or supervisory plan for Physician Assistants
- Nurse Practitioners must hold APN certification by a national certifying organization
- Physician Assistants must have completed an accredited program and hold current or pending NCCPA certification
- Certificate of Authority from Ohio Board of Nursing (for Nurse Practitioners)
- Eligibility to obtain prescriptive authority in the related specialty
- Preferred: 2 years of clinical patient care experience
- BLS and ACLS certification required, along with any other certification specific to the specialty area
Additional Qualifications for Midwives:
- Current licensure as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) in the state of practice
- Certification through the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) for CNMs or appropriate certification for CPMs
- Experience providing care in labor and delivery, prenatal, and postnatal care
- Ability to assess and manage pregnancy complications, and provide appropriate interventions as needed
- Strong communication and patient care skills, with a focus on providing family-centered, compassionate care
- Current BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
