Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced API Cloud Engineer to lead and mature our API management practices, supporting integration across our cloud environment. This role is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing APIs to ensure seamless interoperability and reliability in our cloud-based systems. Initially focused on MuleSoft, this position requires strong experience with AWS API tools, including API Gateway and related services. The ideal candidate will be proactive, with a deep understanding of API lifecycle management, cloud integration, and best practices for secure, scalable API solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- API Development and Management: Design, build, and maintain robust APIs, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with business requirements. Utilize AWS API tools and MuleSoft for consistent, reliable API integration.
- Maturity of API Practices: Drive the maturity of API practices within the organization, establishing governance, documentation standards, and best practices to streamline API usage and enhance operational efficiency.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices for API management, including authentication, authorization, and data protection. Ensure all API practices align with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with DevOps, cloud, and development teams to design and implement integrated API solutions that facilitate seamless data flow and application interoperability.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Develop monitoring solutions for API performance and availability, troubleshooting issues as they arise to minimize disruption and ensure high-quality user experiences.
Technical Skills
- API Management Tools: Proficiency with AWS API Gateway and related services, as well as MuleSoft for API integration and management.
- API Lifecycle Management: In-depth understanding of API design, development, and maintenance, including experience with RESTful services, SOAP, containers, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture.
- Security Practices: strong knowledge of API security protocols, including OAuth, OpenID Connect, and token-based authentication.
- Performance Monitoring: Familiarity with API monitoring tools and techniques to maintain performance and reliability.
- Automation and Scripting: Skills in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, GitHub Actions) to streamline API management tasks.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in API management and cloud engineering, with a proven track record in API lifecycle management and AWS API tools.
- Additional Skills: Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, contributing to efficient deployment and integration of APIs.
