Our challenge
As an API Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-quality APIs and microservices that meet our business needs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of our applications.
Additional Information
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Chicago, IL is $130k - $140k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of API and microservices solutions.
- Define API standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies to enhance API capabilities and performance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams to ensure adherence to architectural standards.
- Monitor and analyze API performance, making recommendations for improvements as necessary.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to API development and microservices architecture.
Requirements:
You are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on API and microservices architecture.
- Advanced experience with .NET technologies (C#, ASP.NET Core, etc.) and frameworks.
- Proficient in designing RESTful APIs and working with API management tools (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway).
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and related technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and serverless architectures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
It would be great if you also had:
- Experience with GraphQL and gRPC.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of security best practices for API development.
