Marcum Search is assisting out client in their search for a Account Payable Specialist.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting team. With over 2 years of accounts payable experience, preferably within the construction industry, the ideal candidate will bring a proven ability to manage and execute all aspects of the accounts payable function.
Construction Industry highly preferred -
Experience with Dataforma and Foundation accounting software is highly desirable, alongside a strong understanding of account reconciliation and general ledger management.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, verify, and reconcile a high volume of invoices for various construction projects.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor files and payment records using Dataforma, Foundations, or equivalent accounting software.
- Collaborate with procurement and project management teams to ensure expenses are properly coded to the correct projects and cost codes.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts payable to the general ledger.
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
- Issue stop-payments or purchase order amendments as needed.
- Prepare analysis of accounts, producing monthly reports, and assisting with month-end closing.
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational information.
- Assist with external and internal audits by providing records and documentation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the accounts payable process.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in an accounts payable role, construction industry experience a plus.
- Proficiency with accounts payable software, with a preference for experience in Dataforma and Foundations.
- Strong understanding of accounts reconciliation and general ledger.
- Excellent data entry skills with great attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritize tasks.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and proficient with other MS Office applications.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- A degree in finance, accounting, or a relevant field is preferred.
