JOB DUTIES: Responsible for managing, developing, and evaluating animal health, reproduction, and welfare activities for commercial dairy operation. Specific duties include: (1) managing animal reproduction programs, including artificial insemination and assisting with calving; (2) managing and overseeing herd health and implementing programs to improve animal health care and welfare; (3) monitoring cows for mastitis, pneumonia, respiratory problems, and uterine infection; (4) managing the diagnosis and treatment of sick cows, calves, and heifers, including routine vaccinations and preventative management; (5) recommending methods to improve overall animal health, reproduction, and nutrition; (6) managing milk quality and production; (7) training employees on animal health, reproduction, and welfare protocols. Housing available.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Engineering, or related.
