Description:JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Functions as the lead cage wash technician in any School of Medicine Division of Animal Resources (DAR) facility.
- Cross trains and demonstrates proficiency in operation of all DAR cage wash and autoclave equipment, regardless of facility.
- Submits work orders to Facilities Management or requests assistance from service contractors as appropriate.
- Operates and sets parameters on autoclaves to sterilize or decontaminate caging equipment.
- Ensures routine maintenance to caging equipment.
- Orders and receives chemicals, food and other supplies.
- Takes necessary precautions, in keeping with OSHA standards and other applicable federal and state regulations.
- Ensures proper handling/storage when working with hazardous chemicals, materials, animals, and power equipment.
- Provides guidance and direction to cage wash trainees and technicians.
- Works independently.
- Oversees cage wash technicians during supervisor's absence.
- Trains new technicians in techniques and procedures related to routine cage sanitation.
- Provides for process management support, ensuring that appropriate materials / equipment are being processes such that the operational needs of the facility are met for each day.
- Maintains sanitary conditions of cage washing rooms and other ancillary areas, such as hallways and storage areas.
- May provide animal or supplemental support up to 25%.
- Ensures others in cagewash are following procedures/safety precautions.
- Responsible for ensuring that regular maintenance of cage equipment is completed.
- Regularly ensures that cagewash supplies / chemicals are stocked.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent and five years of cage wash experience or three years plus ALAT certification.
- The ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
