About the Job
The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for an Animal Control Officer in the Police Department. This position performs various duties associated with enforcement of regulations pertaining to animals, within the city limits, including: responding to complaints, preparing reports, issuing citations, testifying in court and maintaining the Animal Control shelter in accordance with state and city regulations.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of experience in Animal Control or other animal related experience
- Basic Certified Animal Control Proficiency from the Texas Animal Control Association and Euthanasia certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment
Working Conditions:
- Lift and carry 50 lbs
- Walk 1 or more miles at a time
- Run 500 feet
- Reach with arms and grasp items with hands
- Must be able to work various shifts and be on a rotating on call schedule
- Respond within thirty minutes to a call-out
Requires a valid Texas driver's license (Class C), pass a physical exam, psychological evaluation, drug screen and a criminal background check. Work is mainly outdoors in all types of weather.
Lateral Animal Control Officers receive 1:1 pay for experience
