POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:
To thrive as a part-time Animal Care Specialist at Schwartz Farms, Inc., you will need a combination of essential skills that enhance your effectiveness in this rewarding role. The Animal Care Specialist is responsible for providing support to the breeding or farrowing teams. Work with your manager on establishing a schedule and weekend rotations will be included.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Tasks are dependent upon the department, but may include:
- Provide care for animals, ensuring they have access to food, water and a comfortable environment
- Assist with movement of animals
- Treat and vaccinate animals
- Maintain accurate documentation
- Assist in power washing
- Promote a safe work environment
- Maintain PQA certification status (provided on the job)
- Follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures
- Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc.
- Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation
