Responsibilities:Interacts cooperatively with doctors, nurses, and other workers in the operating room using effective verbal, auditory, and visual communication skills; assists anesthesiologist and CRNA's as necessary; communicates regularly with supervisors and other disciplines to maintain anesthesia equipment in good working condition; maintains accurate inventory and adequate supply of drugs, supplies and equipment in the anesthesia workrooms (including daily checks, ordering, and pick up from pharmacy, storeroom, and other anesthesia equipment suppliers); maintains anesthesia equipment in a clean, "ready to use" state to include monitoring devices, infusion pumps, precordial stethoscopes with proper tubing, changing batteries where required, maintaining gas tanks with tubing and ambu bags, and working regulator; sets up IV solutions and blood warmers daily; cleans and prepares anesthesia work station between cases to include changing circuit, suction, cleaning masks, blades, stylets and reusable equipment, cleaning anesthesia equipment as needed, emptying trash, and stocking supplies, as needed; restocks anesthesia carts and machines daily per inventory sheets; cleans major equipment thoroughly according to proper maintenance requirements and Hospital/OSHA/JCAHO Standards; remains available to bring extra equipment and supplies to the Anesthetist in the Operating Room; keeps the anesthesia workroom clean, neat, and orderly; maintains clean and completely stocked IV carts at all times; completes charge sheets as directed by Director of Nurse Anesthesia department; batches anesthesia charges on a daily basis; moves equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. that are necessary to perform essential functions; reports broken or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or department head; loads and unloads shipments received; verifies accuracy of shipments including biohazard, radioactive substances, by count, size, description and manufacturers' catalog number with information or invoice; inspects items for damage or defects and records information on freight bill or packing slip; returns incorrect items and equipment for repair with appropriate paperwork; pulls and delivers supplies and equipment to departments utilizing rolling carts weighing more than 250 lbs.; delivers patient care electrical equipment to Biomedical Engineering for inspection and proper tagging; ensures delivery of supplies and equipment to departments; reviews supply usage and adjusts supply cart per level; utilizes appropriate communication skills with physicians, patients, families, and members of the healthcare team in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime and as required; related duties as required.
Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent. Related experience in an anesthesia setting is preferred
