Job Summary and Qualifications
The Certified Anesthesia Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering top-quality, patient-centered care by providing vital anesthesia support to the anesthesia clinician during surgical procedures. By proactively preparing and maintaining supplies, patient monitoring equipment, and anesthesia delivery systems, the Anesthesia Technologist ensures that the anesthesia clinician's needs are anticipated and met. In collaboration with the circulating RN and the perioperative team, the Anesthesia Technologist contributes to creating a safe and optimal perioperative experience for every patient.
- The Coordinator Anesthesia Technician works with the OR Manager in the management and training of the Anesthesia Technicians, and personnel available for support, maintaining supplies, and maintenance of equipment. Ensures that Anesthesia is supported throughout the hospital with proper supply, equipment function and clinical assistance as needed. Reports to OR Manager. Collaborates with physicians and OR leadership in the development of new programs and processes to determine Anesthesia equipment needs.
- In addition to the duties of the Anesthesia Tech, position. The Coordinator is responsible for training on Anesthesia related equipment, supervises the repair and maintenance of all Anesthesia equipment and instruments, development of Anesthesia Tech training program and continuing education.
- Evaluates new equipment for function and cost, attends and prepares information for the Anesthesia Board Meetings, represents the department in various committees and meeting throughout the hospital. Responsible for ordering all anesthesia supplies, equipment, and instruments.
- Staffing Issues: Acts as a role model and resource person for the Anesthesia Technician assists the OR Manager in developing and maintaining the Anesthesia Technician staffing schedule.
- Works with the staff educator to meet the continuing educational and mandatory requirements of the Anesthesia Technicians, Screens prospective applicants in interview process Provides feedback/input to the OR Manager on the progress of orienteers, staff evaluations, and the staff development needs of the Anesthesia Technicians
What qualifications you will need:
- American Society of Anesthesia Technologist/Technician certification
- Five + years’ experience as an Anesthesia Technologist Technician in an acute care in facility preferred
- Current BCLS card required; ACLS & PALS preferred.
