About the Job
Education/Experience:
10 years of lab experience calibrating and troubleshooting lab instruments and method development and validation with coursework in chemistry, enology, computers, and math
Candidate will need 4 years Supervisory/Lead Tech experience
Knowledge of:
Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Enology or related Food Science
Lab and safety procedures for current methods of grape and wine and wine analyses
ISO 9001:2008 principles as they apply to the Analytical Lab
Computers and current data systems.
Dissolved Oxygen (O2), pH, and ISE probes/meters, spectrophotometer, centrifuge, microscope, titration and distillation apparatus, Arena Analyzer, Foss FT120, Radiometer
Gas Chromatography - program calibration table, troubleshoot and perform maintenance
Knowledge of Atomic Absorption operation and method development
Ability to:
Work independently on projects
Oversee subordinate personnel and develop a team-based environment
Resolve issues involving other departments as they relate to the Analytical Lab
Perform lab techniques in experimental analysis
Computer data entry Microsoft Excel and Access, Vahl (WMDB) system
Maintain and organizing a safe and efficient work area for lab personnel
Maintain communication and team-building within the department
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sit for extended periods of time
Lift up to 40lbs
Drag up to 50 lbs.
Use a computer (type, use a mouse, do data entry)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Occasional noise levels requiring hearing protection
Indoor climate, limited outdoor climate
Frequently work around chemicals or solvents
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
Lab coat or lab apron, appropriate hand protection, side shield safety glasses, safety vest, head/ear protection and proper footwear when in production facility
