ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Main responsibilities:
- Recruit, select, and train VISTA members in partnership with Pediatric Department VISTA program leaders. VISTA members are full-time AmeriCorps members who serve for 12 months at one or more programs within the BMC Pediatrics Department.
- Provide support and supervision to VISTA members. The Intermediary Coordinator provides VISTA members with ongoing support and supervision. This includes meeting with VISTA members regularly, providing feedback, and helping them resolve problems. The Intermediary Coordinator also works with VISTA members to track their progress and ensure they meet their service year's goals.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the BMC AmeriCorps VISTA program. The Intermediary Coordinator is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the AmeriCorps VISTA program. This includes collecting data on VISTA members' accomplishments, tracking their progress, and assessing the impact of their service. Intermediaries use this information to improve the program and ensure that it meets the needs of communities.
Main duties:
- Support the recruitment, selection, and training of VISTA members
- Provide ongoing support and mentorship to VISTA members
- Ensure that VISTA members are meeting the program's goals and objectives
- Work with host programs to develop and implement VISTA projects
- Conduct regular check-in meetings with VISTA programs and VISTA members
- Develop and implement training programs for VISTA members
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the AmeriCorps VISTA program
- Prepare and submit reports to AmeriCorps
- Other duties as assigned
Other Duties:
- Provide general clerical support, including filing, making appointments, photocopying, faxing, preparing and sending bulk mailings and express packages, coordinating conference calls, and maintaining the contacts database.

JOB DESCRIPTION CHARACTERISTICS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- None
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in program management or community development
- Experience working with AmeriCorps VISTA members is preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Superior verbal/written English communication skills, including excellent grammatical, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and web browsers.
- Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to be socially perceptive in accepting and relaying confidential information, communicating policies and procedures, and interacting effectively with a variety of Medical Center personnel and outside personnel.
- Knowledge of grant proposal processes and programs
- Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional organizational skills; must be proactive and a quick learner.
- Proven ability to work with confidential information
- Must be a dedicated team player, with a willingness to learn and to share knowledge with the staff.
