Oversees nursing care program and staff at the assigned clinic site. Establishes and implements policies, triaging, and providing nursing care.
Job Duties:Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services following the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and the United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act. Develops and maintains an ambulatory nursing care program. Sets annual goals and objectives based on need assessments. Establishes and implements policies and procedures to carry out the program. Evaluates the ambulatory nursing program to assure the optimal level of care and that the program meets applicable standards. Assesses training needs annually and arranges for needed training. Conducts and attends meetings as needed. Coordinates services and sets nursing schedules. Provides complete technical supervision for nursing staff and assigned student nurses, student medical assistants, etc. Provides comprehensive nursing care utilizing and documenting the nursing process including patient teaching and family involvement. Adheres to professional and ethical standards. Provides complete technical nursing supervision to other health care paraprofessionals while they are assigned to work in the clinic; and, provides technical consultation to satellite clinics. Performs quality audits and surveys and peer reviews; develops and revises quality assurance nursing standards; implements standards; evaluates their effectiveness. Collaborates with other health care professionals to develop standard clinic procedures. Conducts and attends meetings, planning sessions, committees, and executive boards as a representative for the clinic or clinic nursing service. Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times and protects all personal health information (PHI) as it relates to patient data. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages up to three (3) subordinate supervisors who supervise twenty (20) or more employees and/or five (5) or more service lines. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school in Nursing; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. May include two years or more of undergraduate college coursework.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
At least four (4) years of experience in hospital, ambulatory clinic, or community settings. Prefer three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED
To perform this job successfully, an individual should know database software, development software, internet software, payroll systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possess and maintain an Oklahoma Board of Nursing approved Registered Nurse license. Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must be currently certified in CPR and maintain throughout employment. Must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of employment and maintain throughout employment.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to operate standard office equipment and have basic computer knowledge and skills. Must possess knowledge of the nursing process, and have a working knowledge of the Oklahoma Board of Nurse Practice Act rules and regulations. Must have the ability to be flexible, organized, and be able to function under stressful situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information. Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; the risk of electrical shock; the risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
