About the Job
Within J.P. Morgan's Asset and Wealth Management (AWM) division, the Alternative Investments Group consists of 100+ experienced professionals globally whose goal is to identify and provide clients with access to alternative investment opportunities. With over $150 billion of client capital invested across hedge funds, private equity, private credit, infrastructure and real estate opportunities, the team brings a unique perspective to sourcing and offering private funds and co-investment opportunities. As an Executive Director on the Fund Structuring team you will assume a critical role as a deal captain leading the product development, project management and fund onboarding efforts related to alternative investments. You will have regular interaction with senior management across AWM's alternative investments business, while working in close collaboration with fund managers and internal stakeholders to provide the firm's clients access to the alternative investment asset class.
Job Responsibilities
+ Provide strategic product development solutions for the alternative private funds platform, including transaction management of new and existing hedge funds, private equity and real estate funds.
+ Conduct structuring due diligence to confirm structure-specific terms, underscore non-standard provisions, highlight disclosure concerns or identify distribution hurdles/ risks.
+ Work with internal and external legal and tax counsel to review all fund offering materials, including the private placement memorandum, subscription documents and partnership agreements.
+ Develop marketing materials including cover letters, flipbook presentation, and executive summary that present a clear, concise message that highlights key marketing points and investment considerations.
+ Utilize appropriate firm and industry resources to complete analysis of investment strategy, competitor funds, as required.
+ Educate and advise product specialists and advisor teams, ensuring they can adequately address client questions regarding investment opportunity and structure.
+ Coordinate ongoing relationship management with fund managers, as well as internal and external service partners (e.g., middle office, legal, compliance, tax, fund accounting, administrators, etc.).
+ Participate in strategic decisions related to the alternatives pipeline and all aspects of a fund offering, including: overseeing production of marketing and closing documents, legal documentation, and ensuring successful fund closings.
+ Assist the due diligence and investor relations teams in monitoring funds post-placement, including participating in periodic update calls/meetings with managers and coordinating review of corporate actions.
+ Provide input and innovative ideas to contribute to the development and enhancement of the group's business strategy.
+ Ensure compliance with corporate policies, laws and regulations impacting the alternatives business.
+ Formally and informally supervise and mentor Analyst and Associate colleagues.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:
+ Bachelor's degree
+ Strong interest and prior experience in alternative investments
+ Business and product understanding of alternative investments and private funds, including traditional HFs, PE and RE structures as well as BDCs, NTRs and registered funds
+ Minimum of 6 years experience managing detailed projects
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Excellent relationship management and people skills
+ Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems and to manage multiple tasks at once
+ Flexible collaborator with ability to work independently
