Job Title : Akamai Systems Engineer Strategic Platforms Infrastructure Operations

Key Responsibilities:

Akamai CDN Configuration & Management:
- Implement and manage Akamai CDN configurations for AT&T's customer-facing websites and applications.
- Ensure high performance, availability, and security for web services.

Collaboration with Stakeholders:
- Work with internal stakeholders to design, test, and implement Akamai configuration changes in preproduction environments.
- Ensure smooth and validated propagation of configurations to production environments.

Technical Design & Recommendations:
- Provide technical recommendations and collaborate with Akamai professional services to assess the impact of proposed changes.

Maintenance & Optimization:
- Perform regular maintenance on Akamai configurations and related systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Apply advanced web acceleration and performance techniques to enhance the efficiency and speed of AT&T's web services.

Tool Development & Support:
- Develop and maintain tools that interface with various Akamai features, ensuring seamless integration and functionality across platforms.

Incident Support & Troubleshooting:
- Be available for off-hours support to handle critical Akamai-related incidents.
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer-impacting incidents promptly to minimize disruptions.

Rationalization & Efficiency Improvements:
- Analyze existing technologies and processes to identify opportunities for rationalization and cost savings.
- Recommend and implement process improvements for more efficient operations.

Standard Process Development:
- Develop standardized processes for managing, deploying, and scaling edge solutions across multiple environments and use cases.

Evaluate Tools & Techniques:
- Investigate and recommend advanced tools, techniques, and technologies for the deployment, management, and monitoring of edge products.

Experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Akamai CDN configuration and related features, including managing configurations across multiple domains using Java.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in cloud engineering, site reliability engineering, DevOps, or system infrastructure.
- Experience with large-scale Akamai security feature implementations.

Technical Skills:
- Strong background in scripting and coding with multiple languages and technologies (e.g., Java, Python, Bash, etc.).
- Experience optimizing reliability and performance for large-scale web hosting environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and performance tools like Dynatrace, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK stack.

Problem Solving & Analytical Skills:
- Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making for edge configuration improvements.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical incidents in real-time.

Communication & Collaboration:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.

Willingness to Work Flexibly:
- Willing to work flexible hours and provide on-call support when necessary.
- Experience with other CDNs such as Fastly, Cloudflare, Imperva, or CloudFront.
- Web architecture and development experience, particularly with HTML5, JavaScript frameworks, and CSS3.
- Linux Operating Systems experience.
- Experience in a technical leadership capacity (team lead, manager, etc.).
Qualification:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - or a Science, Technology, or Math (STEM) discipline is required. A major in Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering is preferred.
