To support Skyloom’s production of space lasers, the Electronics Technician assembles and tests electronic components, subassemblies and harnesses according to verbal and written manufacturing procedures. They will attach and connect parts in place through hand tools, power tools, and other equipment according to orientation, placement, and relationship on written work orders.
Duties:
- Perform simple and complex electrical tests, troubleshooting, and repair operations using laboratory equipment and provided software commands.
- Assemble/prepare test benches and equipment for electrical testing.
- Build and test custom fixtures following engineering instructions.
- Identify parts and tools according to description and picture for assembly; Interpret values and footprints on Printed Circuit Boards and assembled components (transformers, resistors, transistor capacitors) for correct attachment. Able to recognize deviations in parts, processes, tools, and flow of manufacturing
- Performs on-line inspections to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards
- Record/document performance results, analyze defect results, interpret variances or unpredicted changes in equipment or DUT. Suggest, implement, and test solutions
- Provide feedback on procedures for the continuous improvement processes.
- Rotates through various assignments/workstations within the electronics area
- Performs all work complying with IPC-A-610 workmanship standards
Minimum Skills Requirements:
- Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations, using PPE where needed
- Able to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using both the imperial and international metric system
- Able to read and follow simple instructions in English. Able to verbally communicate effectively in English and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers
- Ability to use an Ubuntu command line interface to execute test scripts.
- Ability to use laboratory equipment like an oscilloscope, multimeter and waveform generator following pre-written instructions.
- Ability to generate documents/reports using the Microsoft Office framework
- On an electronics schematic drawing, be able to identify the basic electronics components: resistors, capacitors, µp/SoC, FPGA, connectors, etc.
- Ability to analyze the soldered components of a previously assembled board
- Ability to rework SMD (and through-hole) components of a printed circuit board assembly following a procedure, while working under a microscope.
- Experience with electrical wiring harness manufacturing (solder cup and splicing)
- Comfortable with a fast-paced environment, and thrives on navigating changing circumstances
- Teamwork spirit
Required Education:
- 3-5 years of applicable experience working with PCBs, electronics, harnesses, or similar devices
- Education equivalent to a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Nice to Haves:
- Spanish language skills
- Familiarity with the Python software language / docker framework
- Familiarity with Linux-based OS
