Aircraft Mechanic III Tasks
The Aircraft Mechanic III tasks shall include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
- Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
- Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
- Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
- Utilize aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, rollers, grinders, drills, pneumatic squeezers, rivet guns, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
- Experience in reading and interpreting aviation drawings and manuals.
Job Requirements:
All the qualifications listed below are required for this position:
- Minimum of 10 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+5 years' related work, Bachelor, etc.).
- Experience in providing technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
- Must possess experience in providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts, specifically those related to sheet metal repairs and fabrication of sheet metal parts.
- Required to have the ability to measure and evaluate structural aircraft damage.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to layout, fabricate, repair and assemble sheet metal.
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant license strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Aviation sheet metal.
