Work Schedule: Regular hours are Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Employees may need to adjust work hours during surge situations.
Brief Job Description:
The Aircraft Mechanic III is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures, components, and engines with a focus on complex and high-difficulty tasks. This role involves troubleshooting and restoring functionality to airframe and power plant systems, including flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. Utilizing advanced technical knowledge and expertise, the Aircraft Mechanic III interprets technical data such as blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to solve complex problems. The role requires proficiency in using specialized tools, such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and sheet metal equipment, as well as a thorough understanding of aviation repair procedures and structural modifications. Additional duties include reading and interpreting aviation drawings and manuals and performing other tasks as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
- Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
- Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
- Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
- Utilize aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers cable tensiometers, rollers, grinders, drills, pneumatic squeezers, rivet guns, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
- Experience in reading and interpreting aviation drawings and manuals.
- Performs other tasks as needed
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+5 years' related work, Bachelor, etc.).
- Experience in providing technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
- Must possess experience in providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts specifically those related to sheet metal repairs and fabrication of sheet metal parts.
- Required to have the ability to measure and evaluate structural aircraft damage.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to layout, fabricate, repair and assemble sheet metal.
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant license strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Aviation sheet metal.
- Must have strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Must be detail oriented with good analytical skills and ability to handle multiple tasks independently
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must have attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Must demonstrate positive, polite, and professional behavior at all times when dealing with co-workers, customers, and all levels of management
- Must have the ability to communicate using clear, concise, and accurate English; both verbal and written are Required
Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to: bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift, move, and transport items frequently over 10 pounds.
Work Environment:
Generally, work is conducted in an inside office environment, but may also involve some outside work depending on the task. The inside environment may be in an office or cubicle with close quarters, low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting. Outside work may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates and while on travel.
