Description:
Maintains and repairs engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and performs general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to restore aircraft to fully operational status. As required, provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assists in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Prioritizes workloads and may lead teams through more complex maintenance/repair tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.
- Also maintains and repairs aircraft components, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restoring to fully mission capable condition.
- Applies technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
- Performs aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of parts, through the application of knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, electrical theory.
- Use of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
- Performs all maintenance and repair tasks using approved technical publications and, as required, makes entries in aircraft logs and records.
- Work performed may require specialization in sheet-metal, electrical, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
Qualifications:
- Must have 5 or more years of experience providing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft.
- 5 years or more years specialized C-130 aircraft maintenance experience and/or current A&P license/certification with 2 to 3 years of E-2 or P-3 fixed wing propeller experience.
- Must have a combination of three years or more experience repairing airframes and structural components and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.
- Current, Active Secret Clearance
Education:
- High School Diploma.
- A FAA license or equivalent military service school certificate of training in aviation maintenance is highly desired.
