Job Details:
The Air Import Manager is responsible for providing high level of support and supervision to Air Import department by managing the daily activities of the air import team. The Air Import Manager will lead all functional aspects of day-to-day operations to ensure ongoing process improvement, efficiency and performance per the corporate objectives, strategy, and plans. The Air Import Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Import Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise Air Import operations Activities Responsible for proper processing of import shipments
- Research and resolve problems on import shipments.
- Assist in identifying and improving service and operations related issues, including clearance processing, on-time delivery, accurate and timely data entry, etc.
- Assist in auditing and researching service performance issues and develop recommendations for improvements.
- Perform accounting tasks such as billing and approval of vendor invoices.
- Responsible for customer quoting and coordination with overseas agents.
- Train team members to take responsibility of new client accounts.
Qualifications:
- Customs License Holder preferred but not required.
- 7-10 years of Air Import Operations experience with increasing responsibilities, including supervisory experience, must have supervised a team of 5+
- Strong knowledge of Import Air operations
- Strong import carrier relationships
- Team focused management style that fits into a fast-paced environment
- Ability to motivate teams to deliver high quality standards
- Strong knowledge of the HTSUS categories or classifications for all merchandise imported into the U.S.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
- Proven ability to perform under pressure and stress and to adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements.
