Shaner Hotels has an amazing opportunity for a dual role Assistant General Manager / Food & Beverage Manager to join our team at the amazing Norwalk Residence Inn.
The position will be responsible for the management of all aspects of the restaurant and hotel. Must also direct, implement and maintain a service and leadership philosophy, which serves as a guide for respective staff while emphasizing the importance of quality customer service. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in restaurant management. The candidate must have knowledge of all food and beverages served (product, cost control, alcohol awareness). Some duties include, but are not limited social media to in-house marketing, menu standards and specifications, maintaining labor goals, leading daily meetings with staff, preparing work schedules for staff, documenting attendance, assigning duties, preparing and submitting weekly payroll/tips, monitoring staff performance, anticipating guests’ needs and responding promptly to those needs as well as assisting all staff with their job functions to ensure optimum service. We are seeking a hands-on, personable, organized and capable leader who can effectively manage the hotel under the standards of Marriott and Shaner Hotels.
- Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and hotel requirements.
- Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
- Ensures compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures by the Food and Beverage Department:
- Maintains food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel, Shaner, and Franchise specifications.

- Establishes, maintains, and trains standards and procedures for operations and safe working conditions in the department.
- Develops accurate and aggressive short and long range financial objectives for the Food and Beverage Department consistent with property objectives.
- Responsible for responding and handling all guest related issues pertaining to the department.
- Ensures communication with General Manager, all other Department Managers, Supervisors and Staff.
- Manages all aspects of employee performance to ensure productivity and a quality work environment.
- Maintains and is responsible for Food and Beverage Department’s annual budget.
- Handle guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Develop and implement monthly Marketing strategies with the team
- Build, maintain and engage with local grass root marketing campaigns to increase local awareness of the brand
- Increase in house guest awareness of the roof top and lounge during seasons
- Work closely with marketing team to develop and interact on social media accounts to engage the local community.

- College Degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in restaurant management, Marriott Hotel Experience preferred
- Accounting and Cost controls experienced
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
- High school graduate or equivalent; college degree in hospitality management or business preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
- Working knowledge of all hotel departments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to apply good judgment to carry out instructions.
- Knowledgeable of the property management system.
- Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.
