About the Job
Under general supervision and reporting to the Senior Director of Quality Operations, The Quality Engineer is responsible for executing and expanding on key initiatives inside of the supplier quality organization, including the execution of various supplier quality engineering related activities such as Compliance, Process and Product Audits, MRB, FAI Witnessing, Review and Sign off, Problem Solving, Corrective and Preventive Actions, Supplier Performance Reporting and other Quality Improvement Activities.
Day shift M-F (7 AM to 3 PM)- 1 role
Second Shift M-F (3 PM to 11 PM)- 1 role
Job Responsibilities:
- Review process and flow of products through the suppliers manufacturing shop from the raw material phase through manufacturing, quality, shipping, and delivery to the customer
- Identify systemic causes for poor delivery/quality performance and develop supplier improvement plans. Facilitate and conduct Supplier Health Assessments, Capacity Analysis, and Rate Readiness
- Drive actions to mitigate potential delivery delays by utilizing industry-standard problem-solving techniques, identifying risks, performing root cause analysis, and development of recovery plans to bring shipments back in-line with customer requirements
- Provide expert assessments and advice to suppliers and customers on suppliers’ delivery performance, quality assurance, process improvements, and expansion capabilities
- Create daily status reports and communicate actions and plans to all stakeholders with our customers, prime aerospace manufacturers, throughout the day
- Prepare presentations and lead meetings
- Undertake special projects as required
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with all stakeholders to ensure timely and effective responsiveness to abnormalities
- Ensure effective employee relations, coaching, and employment development
- Create a positive culture focused on metrics and progressing business unit forward through group participation and ownership of project pipeline and business unit as a whole
- Responsible for putting safety first
- Facilitates quality and productivity to achieve positive results in all areas
- Develop and implement corrective actions where necessary
- Understand and communicate quality specifications required by customers to staff
- Utilize LEAN management within your business unit
- Maintain a clean, organized work area

- Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned by Management

- Acquire additional certifications and credentials as required for work or career development

- Proficient with Lean Management techniques (C.I., 6S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke), ability to gather and employ data to meet operational goals in metric driven environment
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid Auto Insurance
- Safety Glasses: Needed in all areas of the plant
- Steel toe shoes: Needed in all areas of the plant
Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (i.e., Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, etc.)
- 8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5 years’ experience in aerospace
- LEAN/Six Sigma experience preferred
- Root cause analysis and corrective action
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Effective communication skills
- Detail oriented•
- Any combination of education and experience may be considered
Additional requirements
- Prior practical experience and implementation of Quality Engineering tools and systems such as: DOE, FMEA, SPC, RCCA, APQP, PPAP, controls plans, material control, process control, systems performance, and product evaluation.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Productivity: Incumbents must perform work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction.
Mobility: Incumbents are required to participate in assigned physical activities which may include light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
Vision: Vision sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and observe behavior of others.
Environment: Typical office conditions, directly working Quality management team, working with the SMS team, and external customers.
Other Factors: Typical hours worked are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Incumbents may be required to work occasional extended hours and weekend overtime.
The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk (approximately 1-2 miles a day); sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will occasionally drive long distances to and from various suppliers as needed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Pay Range
$70,000-$94,000, please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
