About the Job
CFD Research is looking to fill our intern class for the Summer of 2023. An aerospace engineering intern is sought to support development of a system model of a hypersonic vehicle. The intern will perform aerodynamic and aerothermal characterization and be trained on fast running data generation workflows. The intern will also integrate these workflows and data sets within an MBSE model.
The program runs 8-10 weeks over the summer and has flexible start and finish dates based on candidate's availability (typically mid-May to August).
Each CFD Research Internship has both a mentor and technical manager to help guide them on their research project over the summer. In addition to challenging technical work, CFD Research's program offers professional development and social activities designed to help our interns have a great, all around summer internship experience.
Basic Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineer, or similar discipline.
• 1+ years of experience
• Proficiency with the Python programming language
• Proficiency with Git, Gitlab, and software best practices
• Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain/maintain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters or PhD (or pursuing) in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineer, or similar discipline.
• Proficiency with C++
• Experience with aerodynamic modeling tools like Missile DATCOM, CBAERO, OpenVSP
• Experience with multi-disciplinary analysis and optimization (MDAO)
• Experience with closed-loop 6DOF simulation tools
Location: This role is based in the Dayton, OH area, and is 100% onsite.
