About the Job
Upper Merion Township, located in King of Prussia, PA, is looking for energetic Adventure Day Camp Counselors. The Adventure Day Camp Counselor is responsible for the successful execution of Adventure Day Camp by creating a productive, fun, and inclusive environment for all campers. This position's critical requirement is that the incumbent displays excellent leadership skills and is flexible and adept at communicating effectively with campers and administrative staff.
The duties of the Adventure Day Camp Counselor include (but are not limited to):
- Sets up the daily activities for children
- Oversees children in groups.
- Leads and supervises campers during activities, games, and crafts and instructs them on engaging in each activity.
- Positively motivates campers’ participation in daily activities.
- Works in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere.
- Emphasizes the safety of campers during activity participation.
- Upholds and enforces camp policies and procedures.
- Utilizes and cares for camp equipment and supplies.
- Oversees the safety of campers at camp and on excursions.
- Encourages respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.
- Sets a good example for campers in all areas, including cleanliness, punctuality, clean-up chores, rules, and sportsmanship
- Notifies Assistant Director of injuries and camper behavior challenges and works to help Assistant Director document and communicate camper behavior and injuries to parents/guardians.
- Engages in a positive work relationship with supervisors and fellow camp counselors.
- Maintains a safe, healthy, and clean working environment.
- Upholds and enforces camp policies and procedures established by the Upper Merion Parks and Recreation Department.
- Provides excellent customer service to campers and parents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Must be 14 years and older.
- Enjoys working with children.
- Available to work Monday-Friday for the duration of camp, mid-June - August, during the hours of 8:00 AM-5:30 PM.
- Must demonstrate maturity, reliability, and courtesy and communicate clearly and respectfully.
- Has current; PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal, and FBI clearances or ability to obtain clearances.
- Completion of pre-employment drug test screening
- CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification.
Pay: $15.00/hr.
