General Purpose of Job:
The Advancement Graduate Assistant (GA) supports the Grand View Advancement Office in fostering relationships with graduates, promoting alumni engagement, and coordinating events and programs aimed at connecting alumni with each other and the university. This role is designed for a graduate student with an interest in higher education administration, communications, event planning, fundraising or nonprofit management.
Essential Functions of Job:
- Alumni Engagement
- Identify, communicate, and track alumni correspondence in department database
- Communication
- Create and implement social media post, email campaigns, and other content – including social media graphics - to keep alumni informed and engaged with the university.
- Create online giving pages, events, including ticket management, event registrations and logistical support.
- Data Entry
- Work with Database Manager to update and maintain alumni records, facilitate gift entry, and work with Grand View Business Office to deposit and track all contributions.
- Fundraising Support
- Creating email solicitations
- With coordinate with GV Athletics Department and Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement to execute peer-to-peer athletic fundraising campaigns.
- Provide support to the Director of Annual Giving for the 24-hour day of giving.
- Event Support
- Communicate with vendors -internal and external – for department events, including Homecoming, Viktors, Iowa State Fair, etc.
- Provide administrative support for athletic events including annual golf outings
- Support alumni and student engagement events hosted by the Advancement Office
- Administrative Support
- Perform general office duties, including data entry, and responding to alumni emails and messages.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required with interest in a Grand View graduate program
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media platforms (specifically Facebook and Instagram), Canva and willingness to learn Grand View’s alumni CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
- Experience in event planning, communications, or customer service is a plus but not required.
- Must be available to work Monday – Friday for a total of 20 hours per week, with flexibility to work some evenings or weekends.

$2,000/semester

100% tuition remission for Grand View's graduate program (Note: If GV pays more than $5,250 in educational assistance benefits for you during a calendar year, you must pay taxes on the amount over $5,250. GV will include this information on your W-2.)
Working Conditions:
- The ability to lift small loads (no more than 25 lbs.)
- The ability to occasionally lift 50 pounds.
