Overview
JOB SPECIFICS:
- Excellent opportunity to join a team-oriented group of APPs and Neurosurgeons caring for neurosurgical patients at a Level 1 Trauma Center located in beautiful Peoria, IL. Hospital outpatient Department Practice consists of 8 primary neurosurgeons and 12 APPs in collaboration with the Neurosurgery Residency service (University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria). Our neurosurgical program is committed to educating, training, and mentoring APPs in learning this exciting neurosurgical specialty
- Monday through Friday 0800-1630, with occasional help to cover one weekend shift
- The APP (Advanced Practice Provider) performs the following tasks:
- Obtain a patient history
- Perform a physical examination
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment
- Order, conduct and interpret diagnostic tests
- Formulate a diagnostic impression
- Develop and implement a treatment plan
- Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
- Prescribe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
- Facilitate appropriate consultations and referrals
- Provide counseling and education to meet patient needs
- Coordinates hospital discharges and follow-up testing/appointments
- Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives
- Comply with all required compliance policies
- Quality care and cost savings
- Timely and up-to-date documentation of medical records
- Practice Model:
- 8 primary neurosurgeons +12 APPs with plans to expand inpatient and outpatient APP coverage.
- Work in collaboration with Neurosurgeons and APPs in the hospital outpatient department setting seeing hospital neurosurgical follow ups, postoperative follow ups, spine and skull fractures, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury follow ups, and other neurosurgical patients. Assist with new priority consultation patients in collaboration with Neurosurgeons.
- Effective communication between MD, APP, and Neurosurgery Residency service (University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria) is key to fostering a supportive environment and optimizing patient outcomes.

- Clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $60.39 - $73.68
- Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
- Licensed to provide either an advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act] OR [physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987 ("Act") Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics.
- BLS/ALS Certified Experience is preferred however; new graduates will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of acute care experience in neurosurgery or related field
