What you'll do
As the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) for Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand) based at our facility in Bristol, IN, you will enjoy developing cutting-edge operational systems and processes for new and existing products. You will be involved with designing solutions, implementing manufacturing process improvements, and optimizing processes to solve manufacturing issues in partnership with the Robotics, Controls Engineering, Tool/Fixture Design, Design Engineering, Operations, Project Management, and Finance teams.
Your day-to-day will also involve supporting projects related to safety, increased operational throughput, improved quality, and reduction in operational expenses.
You will also:
- Examine current manufacturing processes and systems to improve safety, repeatability, and efficiency
- Discern how system data impacts effective decision-making
- Propose investment strategies to fulfill the vision of the business
- Develop and manage projects that drive innovation and technology
- Integrate industry best practices, operational 5S, and standardization into project development
- Leverage world-class vendors when necessary to meet operational goals
- Ensure that capital projects are completed on time and within budget

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics Engineering, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing engineering experience
- Five or more (5+) years of related manufacturing engineering expertise
- Versed in working in a low volume/high variation manufacturing operation
- A history of handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and managing and maintaining budgets
- A track record of effectively aligning with cross-functional teams and external vendors
- Proficient in Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
- Computer-aided design systems experience (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred)
- Solid hands-on engineering skills and skilled at working on production equipment
- Sound judgment with the ability to make timely, and sometimes difficult, decisions
- Versatility, flexibility, and the willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
- Travel up to 25%
