Become an Advanced Applications Engineer 1 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll become an engineer of innovation providing technical expertise on Advanced Power System Analysis Applications in Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS). You will contribute to SCE achieving Pathway 2045, working on implementing and maintaining Advanced Power System Applications to manage the grid of tomorrow. An exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong power system background that also enjoys working with information technologies.
Additionally, you’ll:
+ Manage real-time operations of distribution power system, this task typically include review substation Oneline accuracy in ADMS, database and with other groups to fix Oneline issues, review network topology on distribution circuits, and coordinate with GIS database team to correct data issues i.e. equipment not connected to grid.
+ Manage the model conversion process in Model Manager Application
+ Assist in root cause analysis of model conversion failures
+ Work with our ADMS vendor on software issues and coordinate the implementation of fixes in to ADMS production system.
+ Support ADMS R1 Project, this task typically includes running Acceptance Testing Procedure (ATP) to identify software issues and model validation.
+ Support 24x7 on call duty rotations.

Responsibilities
+ Prepares technical engineering evaluations and supports the inspections of equipment and operations
+ Assists in the review and applications of new technologies to improve quality of service to customers
+ Maintains records and documentation on relevant engineering procedures and preventative/ demand maintenance
+ Assists with engineering projects using existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs and solutions
+ Supports the document lifecycle within assigned projects according to defined organizational processes
+ Provides operational support to improve customer satisfaction and reliability performance; monitors the trending of electrical system health
+ Assists with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA), and miscellaneous investigations to troubleshoot problems, making changes to correct them
+ Observes all safety policies during the execution of required tasks and ensures safety standards are met and safe working practices are adhered to
+ A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
+ Experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
+ Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
+ Experience performing distribution power flow analysis for electric utility company.
+ Programming experience with C++, Java, Python, or PowerShell
+ Experience with maintaining real-time power system applications such as: State Estimator, Distribution State Estimator, Real-time contingency analysis, Network Topology Processor
Additional Information
+ This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

+ This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40hrs/5 days a week.
