This Parkview Summer Internship position will provide the student with an opportunity to engage in experiential learning in both the Advance Care Planning Department and the Chaplaincy Department. This intern will assist in the continued integration and growth of advanced care planning, a program that engages people in the process of thinking about and sharing values, goals and wishes related to the future health care decisions. This intern will help to promote the value of ACP conversations throughout the health system and the communities Parkview serves. This intern will also shadow staff chaplains at the Parkview Regional Medical Center and Parkview Randallia. They will round with the chaplains to respond to patient, family, and healthcare team requests. The intern will be responsible for supporting department functions, assisting with special projects, applying academic knowledge to daily activities, and collaborating with team members to ensure excellent care in all levels of engagement.
Specific projects that will be assign to this intern includes participating in community engagement opportunities with advance care planning by assisting with tabling booths at community events. Lastly, the individual will work with chaplaincy to address ongoing bereavement support planning.
This intern needs some maturity because of the sensitive nature of many of the issues both departments address. They need to be open to participating in educational opportunities - inservicer participation, department meetings, webinars, etc and prepared to identify their needs to maximize program participation.
The work schedule will be Monday through Friday. This position may have to work planned evenings or a weekend day if a special event is being planned. Traditionally, 40 hours a week, with some flexibility. Ideally, the candidate that would fit this role best would be majoring in fields like social work, psychology, sociology, chaplaincy, bible studies, project management, or healthcare leadership.
Must be a current undergraduate college student or graduate college student. Specific educational focus or degree may be preferred depending on the hosting department of the internship. Specific license and/or certification may be preferred depending on the hosting department of the internship. GPA of 3.0 or above Submission of Cover Letter Resume and Letter of Recommendation. Other qualifications may vary by department of internship.
