Salary - Up to $120,000 yearly
About Us: A reputable healthcare facility in the South Eastern Nassau County area is seeking a dedicated and experienced Risk Manager to join their team. The Risk Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and accountability of the facility, ensuring that the highest standards of patient care are met.
Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly investigate and report all occurrences/incidents within the facility in compliance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulations and internal policies and guidelines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess and improve the effectiveness of the risk management program, providing education and counseling to staff as needed.
- Utilize Occurrence Logs to document and report all incidents in accordance with the NYS DOH Incident Reporting manual.
- Assess liability and financial risks, including but not limited to falls, medication errors, abuse, neglect, and hazardous conditions.
- Provide regular reports on ongoing investigations to the Administrator, Director of Nursing Services (DNS), and the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies, assess their effectiveness, and make necessary revisions to enhance patient safety.
- Conduct safety meetings to ensure that the facility remains a safe and secure environment.
- Initiate and oversee all investigations and notifications to relevant authorities when necessary.
- Issue timely reports to regulatory agencies and governing authorities in compliance with regulations.
- Represent the facility at audits, inspections, and investigations conducted by governing authorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Risk Management, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field).
- Previous experience in risk management in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Familiarity with New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulations and Incident Reporting procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Knowledge of healthcare liability and risk management practices.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) certification is a plus.
