The Admissions Director is responsible for overseeing the intake process for new residents, managing relationships with families and healthcare providers, and ensuring the facility meets regulatory and business requirements for admissions. This role plays a key part in ensuring the nursing home runs smoothly, meets occupancy goals, and provides quality care to residents. Admission Director Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire admissions process, starting at initial inquiries
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals to ensure all necessary documentation, assessments, and medical records are complete before admission.
- Review and process applications for new residents, ensuring they meet the facility's admission criteria.
- Maintain relationships with hospitals, physicians, referral agencies, and social workers to generate referrals.
- Act as the primary point of contact for families, residents, and other key stakeholders throughout the admission process.
- Collaborate with clinical and nursing teams to develop care plans and ensure appropriate accommodations are available for new residents.
- Ensure all admissions procedures comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate records for all admissions, ensuring that all necessary documentation, such as consent forms and medical assessments, is complete.
- Regularly audit the admission process to identify areas for improvement and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Explain financial procedures to families and assist with completing necessary paperwork.
- Coordinate with financial counselors to ensure accurate billing and payment processing for new residents.
- Monitor bed availability and manage the nursing home's occupancy levels to meet facility goals.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop strategies for increasing occupancy and filling vacancies.
- Supervise and train admissions staff to ensure they follow proper procedures and provide excellent customer service.
- Provide families with information on how the nursing home operates, including policies, activities, and resources available to residents.
Admission Director Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in healthcare management or a related field
- Experience in admissions or marketing
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience in admissions in a long-term care facility
