Admissions Cashier Lead - Tennessee Aquarium

The Tennessee Aquarium, rated the best aquarium in America for overall guest satisfaction, attracts over 750,000 visitors each year. We are looking for positive, energetic individuals with excellent customer engagement skills and sales experience to provide work direction and staff supervision to our Admissions team while efficiently performing general ticketing procedures, which include cash, credit and accountability procedures, while maintaining a visitor-friendly process.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily building opening and closing procedures.
- Oversee cash opening and closing operations ensuring compliance with cashiering principles; report discrepancies to management and assist in researching the cause.
- Maintain a presence on the sales floor by selling tickets and memberships with a focus on upselling combination tickets; lead by example for other cashiers.
- Manage and assist the Guest Support Associate positions by maintaining a clean desk policy for voicemails and e-mails to admissions. Facilitate solutions to customer service issues over the phone and through e-mail.
- Serve as a liaison for customer and staff complaints and observations and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Create weekly staff schedules to provide sufficient coverage for projected attendance numbers and special event schedules.
- Assign and monitor staff lunch breaks and afternoon breaks.
- Trouble-shoot computer problems and monitor operational efficiency.
- Stay up to date on policies and procedures implemented by management and communicate policy changes to all cashiers to ensure adherence.
- Serve as backup coverage when management is not present or available.
- Communicate all issues to management.
Key Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of two years' experience in a related field required
- Ability to operate a cash register
- Bilingual in English/Spanish and/or ASL proficiency a plus
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
- Exceptional math skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Full-time, hourly ($15/hour); 40 hours/week, must be available to work holidays, a rotational weekend schedule, as well as additional weekends as needed.
