Job Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Admission, the Admission Counselor position will assist in the development and execution of an effective recruitment strategy and strategic plan to meet undergraduate student enrollment goals.
Essential Functions:
Research, develop, and execute a full recruitment schedule, including high school visits, college fairs, and recruitment events within a given territory.
Provide recruitment reports and updatesas necessary.
Cultivate strong working relationships with guidance and college counselors within the given recruitment territory.
Review undergraduate admission applications on time, consistent with departmental policies.
Assist with the daily operations of the Office of Admission through daily admission presentations, interviews, on and off-campus admission events including but not limited to Open Houses and Accepted Student Days, emails, online chats, and call campaigns.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
Relevant experience in admission, enrollment management, or higher education is preferred.
Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
Understanding of discretion related to handling confidential information is required.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings, mornings, and weekends is required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Technolutions Slate, and Ellucian Banner is preferred.
The ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities with short notice and changing deadlines is preferred.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, move about, sit, carry work and use controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, and communicate. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the employee include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 am-3:00 pm.Occasional early morning, night, and weekend hours are required for recruitment and events.
Travel:
This position requires extensive periods of travel throughout the traditional undergraduate recruitment seasons. Travel may be both domestic and international, and overnight travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience in admission or higher education is preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
A valid driver’s license is required.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary for this position is$64,350. St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
