Summary Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, Vice Presidential Protective Division, Presidential Protective Division, or Special Operations Division will allow you to provide administrative, clerical and office automation support utilizing a variety of administrative processes and procedures essential to supporting the U.S. Secret Service enterprise and its Protective and Investigative missions. Responsibilities The selectee will serve as a(n) Administrative Specialist in the Office of Protective Operations, Vice Presidential Protective Division, Presidential Protective Division, or Special Operations Division Typical work assignments include: Managing a variety of administrative operations including but not limited to financial/budget administration; billing; travel and credit card purchases; training; audit and inspections; recruitment; evidence and inventory controls; property inventory; record management; and human resources management and administrative functions. Advising internal and external stakeholders on all procedural and administrative functions. Ensuring administrative functions associated with financial obligations requiring contracting and procurement of vendor services are conducted in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Establishing and continually reviewing, updating, developing and recommending effective Standard Office Procedures (SOPs) which impact the orderly and efficient flow of work within the office, and with other internal and external stakeholders. Analyzing reports and other numerical information to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate the efficient use of information and data analytics. This Administrative Specialist position starts at a salary of $82,764.00, GS -11 step 1, with promotion potential to $107,590.00 GS-11 step 10. Qualifications Specialized Experience: Applicant must possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Providing administrative support through the utilization of effective administrative office and clerical procedures. Working with internal and external customers to provide information on policies and operational procedures. Performing staffing actions, business processes, administrative controls, and program management. Preparing and maintaining office files. OR Education: Completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work. OR Combination: Have a combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (beyond 2 years of graduate education), that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement. Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
