Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree and certificate programs, as well as dozens of workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 25,000 students. More than one-third of our degree-seeking students were born outside of the United States, coming to LaGuardia from 136 countries and speaking forty-three heritage languages. More than half are first-generation college students. Sixty-nine percent live in Queens; the rest live in Brooklyn and beyond. Approximately two-thirds of our degree students receive financial aid. Under general supervision of the Director of Administrative & Support Services, in addition to CUNY Title Overview, the Administrative Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative support with the daily operations and administrative aspects of the department. The Administrative Coordinator will assist with the administrative activities and daily operations of the Administrative & Support Services departments while maintaining a high degree of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
In addition, the Administrative Coordinator will also perform the following duties:
- Assist with the daily operations and administrative aspects of the department;
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, scope and standards involved in Record Retention and other city regulations;
- Use SharePoint 2010 and 2013 to create site content, custom metadata, views, site column and content types with SharePoint;
- Retrieves, allocate space, and stores electronic and backup files and records;
- Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department;
- Manages basic office functions such as communications, meetings schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information;
- Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets, assist in procurement administration and invoice processing;
- Provides information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty and others who contact the department;
- Assist in training office staff;
- Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with Electronic Management Systems (EDMS) and SharePoint preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suire (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong Communication skills

- Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.
- Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.
- May supervise office staff and student workers.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
