Administrative Clerk - Part Time - Prothonotary's Office - Cumberland County

Job Description

To provide administrative and clerical support to the department and its staff. 

Job Title: Administrative Clerk

Classification: Administrative Clerk

Work Hours: This is a part-time position

Starting Salary: $16.00 an hour

5-Factor Grade: 101

Position Code: PR9001

Current county employees will follow the county's promotion/demotion policy.  

Responsibilities

1. Assists attorneys, litigants, and customers in person and over the phone.
2. Answers telephone and takes messages or transfers calls to the proper individual.
3. Reviews and processes subpoenas as requested.
4. Assists with opening and processing mail within 48 hours of receipt.
5. Acts as primary United States passport acceptance agent within office; accepts the bulk of applications.
6. Completes all United States passport transmittal forms, mails, and tracks passports through their arrival at the regional facility.
7. Maintains accurate files and other confidential department documents.
8. Represents the office at Messiah College during their bi-annual Passport Day.
9. Attends all required meetings and training sessions.
10. Assists staff with any additional clerical duties in the absence of staff members, or as needed.
11. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

1. High school diploma or equivalency, operating knowledge of Microsoft Office-word, excel, access, and strong customer service skills. 

WORK EXPERIENCE: 

1. 2-3 years working experience in office environment, county government or court system. Or any acceptable combination of equivalent training and/or experience.
