Job Posting: Administrative Assistant (with Classroom Support) - Jewish Early Childhood Center
Location: Gordon School
Position Type: Full-Time, Monday - Friday from 7.30am - 4pm. This position requires flexibility to stay late and
arrive early or work weekends during special events.
Salary: $30,000 - $45,000

Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Administrative Assistant who will play a vital role in the daily operations of our early
childhood center. In addition to administrative duties, this role will include filling in classrooms when needed,
supporting our teaching staff, and ensuring a smooth learning environment for our children. Our center is a fun and dynamic environment where flexibility and forward-thinking are essential for planning ahead and adapting to the needs of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
● Provide administrative support, including managing schedules, maintaining records, and assisting with
communication among staff, families, and the community.
● Step in to support classrooms when a teacher is absent, working alongside the other classroom teacher.
You will be working directly with young children to facilitate a positive and engaging learning experience,
ages 3 months - 4 years old.
● Assist in the preparation and organization of classroom materials and resources.
● Maintain a welcoming and organized office environment.
● Collaborate with staff to ensure the efficient operation of the center.
● Participate in required non-classroom activities, including Back to School Night(s), parent/student
conferences, faculty and ECC staff meetings, and special activities and performance events.
● Support the work of the School Director and administrative leadership team,
● Foster and sustain professional, collaborative, and collegial relationships with administration, staff, and
community partners to enhance the experiences of students and classes.
● Collaborate with the ECC Director to support children in achieving their developmental milestones and
learning objectives, both in and out of the classroom, through careful observation of their behavior and
needs, and by consulting with the Head of School and other professionals as necessary.
● Collaborate with the ECC Director and Admissions Director to observe and evaluate prospective students
during their trial day.
Qualifications:
● Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google
Suite.
● Early childhood education background preferred, but not required.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Strong creative thinking and crisis management skills.
● Support the philosophy and vision of the Gordon School and Center for Jewish Life at Beth David.
● Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing needs.
● A passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
● Flexibility and forward-thinking skills to plan and adapt proactively.
● Proficiency in spoken and written English is required, with Spanish being a plus.
Requirements:
● Must be willing to obtain 45 hours of training from the Department of Children and Families (DCF) within
one year from the date of hire.
● DCF level background check required prior to start date.
● First Aid and CPR certification must be obtained within the first month of hire.
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
● Ability to sit, stand, bend, use stairs with ease and move around the classroom and playground.
