JOB DESCRIPTION:
NORC at the University of Chicago is looking to hire a friendly and personable individual as an Administrative Assistant who will provide administrative support from one of our survey centers located in Chicago, IL, Albuquerque, NM or Wichita, KS for the Telephone Surveys and Support Operations department.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of administrative support related tasks, will be able to work both independently and as part of a team. This person must be flexible, well organized and pay careful attention to detail. He/she should enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting a large leadership team in a fast-paced call center environment. The candidate should exhibit professionalism, be resourceful and efficient while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
DEPARTMENT: TELEPHONE SURVEY AND SUPPORT OPERATIONS
TSSO staff are vital to our nationwide survey research operation. Interviewers talk to people from all walks of life to obtain information on issues such as health care, employment, and education. The work we do at NORC has lasting social significance, and the data we gather helps legislators and others involved in setting policy make informed decisions for the welfare of all Americans.
Our TSSO Centers are state-of-the-art telephone survey centers located in Chicago, IL, Albuquerque, NM and Wichita, KS. Each Center features call stations equipped for computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Plan, coordinate, and prepare for department meetings and events involving both local and remote TSSO staff including scheduling, material preparation, and logistics/technology needs (video conferencing, presentations, Zoom, etc.)
+ Update training room calendars and resolve any conflicts
+ Liaison with facilities and technology support services in regards to office needs
+ Assist TSSO management with travel arrangements, purchasing and expense reporting
+ Responsible for administrative tasks related to onboarding and payroll
+ Build strong relationships throughout the company to support and facilitate the collaborative team environment
+ Review documents to ensure accuracy and quality, and revise as needed
+ Attend meetings with the purpose of taking minutes
+ Independently perform varied administrative duties
+ Interface internally with TSSO management and outwardly with vendors, staffing agencies and staff from other NORC departments
REQUIRED:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
+ Minimum of one year of relevant experience providing administrative support within a team environment. Two years’ experience preferred.
+ Strong organizational skills, with proven experience prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.
+ Excellent computing skills and experience with PC-based software, including word processors, spreadsheets and graphics (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
+ Polished demeanor and comfort working with staff at all levels in the organization.
+ Advanced ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) at all levels.
+ Ability to take initiative to problem-solve and make decisions.
+ A strong focus on detail, accuracy, and work quality.
+ Candidates will need to be based in either Albuquerque, Wichita or Chicago.

+ Previous NORC experience preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The pay range for this position is$22/per hour– $34/per hour
This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC’s comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
