Administrative Assistant II - Nursing Administration - Owensboro Health

Job Summary
Performs a variety of administrative/clerical duties in support of assigned department. Job Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors, answers/screens/routes telephone calls, files, and distributes mail.
• Completes less routine and detailed work assignments.
• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members about patient care.
• Produces and maintains various reports, surveys, and documents for unit staff; photocopies and distributes and/or files as necessary.
• Transcribes and enters physicians' orders subject to the approval of a licensed nurse; asks for clarification when necessary.
• Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
• Processes internal and external requests from physicians' offices, nursing stations, and other departments.
• Performs duties of purchasing agent for the department through requisition entry, equipment inventory, and record keeping in accordance with budget guidelines.
• Schedules and coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, appointments, and travel arrangements.
• Maintains assigned calendar(s).
• May assist with staff scheduling as directed.
• Maintains work area and related supplies and equipment.
• Assists with evaluating the office environment, revising procedures, improving efficiency of workflow, and initiating cost reduction programs.
• Performs patient placement duties for admissions and transfers in coordination with House Supervisor, UR nurse, and environmental services as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
• A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience required
• No licensure/certification/registration required
