About the Role
Washington REALTORS® is seeking a Government Affairs Administrative Assistant to help the Government Affairs Department run efficiently and effectively, advancing the Association’s mission, and growing member activism. Responsibilities will include tracking bills and communicating updates to the team, monitoring member engagement and using advocacy tools to communicate information to members, planning, scheduling, and assisting with meetings, preparing correspondence for the department, providing administrative support for workshops and programs involving legislative and political activities, and organizing and overseeing departmental event planning, such as Washington REALTORS® Annual Hill Day. The Government Affairs Administrative Assistant will work closely with the organization’s lobbyists and political committee fundraiser and will collaborate inter-departmentally across the organization. They will also regularly communicate with association members, board members, and legislators.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of professional office experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and experience with database management software.
- Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; work outcomes must meet and/or exceed productivity and quality standards.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work as part of a cooperative team environment, adhering to Association and department policies and procedures.
- Strong organizational capabilities.
- Ability to stay focused on primary responsibilities while conducting major tasks under the pressure of urgent matters arising regularly with a high level of attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Local, state, or federal campaign experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislative process, election process and rulemaking process.
- Experience with Washington State politics, campaign organization including grassroots mobilization and fundraising.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, hourly position with an hourly rate of $20.34-$28.40. Work Location
This position is hybrid, based in Olympia, Washington, with a minimum requirement of 3 days per week in the office. Please note that additional days onsite will be required during onboarding and during the legislative session. The standard schedule for this role is Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. This position will require travel away from the office on about 10 nights per year for various conferences and events in Washington state.
