About the Job
The School of Nursing Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and clerical support to the director and nursing department staff. Working under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Administrative Assistant provides all necessary organizational support and is responsible for a variety of tasks. This is a full-time, 12-month position that is located on the Ann Arbor, Michigan Campus.
Duties/Responsibilities
-Answers main line for nursing department, responds or forwards direct requests for information for undergraduate program
-Assists the university admissions staff and nursing department faculty with student recruitment and advising
-Maintains master calendar of in-house meetings and provides meeting support as needed
-Maintains and updates student database as needed and maintains confidential files on all students
-Receives and distributes all mail and coordinates outgoing mail, including courier services and interoffice mail
-Assists in preparation of confidential reports for various standing committees
-Provides administrative support for copying, faxing, large-scale mailings, typing and print jobs
-Organizes work for student worker and part time administrative assistant
-Maintains accreditation, faculty and student files and reports
-Orders and maintains office supplies. Assists with budgeting and recordkeeping
-Supports Sigma Theta Tau (nursing sorority) and other student group functions
-Makes travel arrangements and administrative support for faculty and student trips
-Manages Assessment Technological Institute ordering, student account charges and dissemination of materials
-Other related responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-Must have experience and be skilled in the use of software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and familiarity of working within a database and spread sheets
-Requires excellent organizational skills and attention to details
-Must be self motivated, able to deal with interruptions and work within deadlines
-Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
-Requires professional communication skills to maintain good rapport with students, faculty, and others
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum two years of administrative support experience is required. Previous work experience in an academic setting and/or with college-aged students is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
