The Catholic Diocese of Victoria in Texas is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant to the Vicar for Evangelization and Catechesis to join their team in Victoria, Texas (77901).

The Diocese sponsors 12 diocesan private and parochial elementary schools and 1 private and 2 parochial high schools. These Catholic schools, educate more than nearly 3,000 youth.
About the role:
The Administrative Assistant to the Vicar for Evangelization and Catechesis helps make the vision of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC) a reality, i.e., to invite and accompany people to encounter Jesus Christ for lifelong missionary discipleship. This is accomplished by assisting with administration and coordination within the OEC.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
The position is security-sensitive and requires extreme confidentiality, care, and trust. Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC).
- Answer and return phone calls and emails; coordinate OEC calendar of events.
- Assist in the maintenance of pertinent OEC website pages; produce flyers, pamphlets, and marketing materials as needed; facilitate communication inside and outside OEC.
- Prepare monthly expense reports, turn in deposits, and make check requests as needed, track grants, and fund budgets: produce reports for grants, and assist in writing grants.
- Assist in the coordination and publicizing of annual Family Life events.
- Manage registration, track participants, and prepare printed materials for retreats and conferences.
- Make necessary purchases for retreats and conferences.
- Assist with managing the Family Life budget.
- Help Vicar for Evangelization and Catechesis evangelize and catechize.
- The secondary responsibility of the Administrative Assistant is devoted to assisting other ministries of the OEC when available, including:
- Prepare, sort, and organize printed materials and handouts.
- Assist with any OEC event.
- Assist the Chancery in fielding phone calls in Spanish when necessary.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- An associate degree from an accredited American university or equivalent in a foreign country.
- At least five (5) years experience in administration or administrative assistant duties in a parish and/or school, preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must be compliant with DOV Safe Environment and Transportation policy.
- Must know the teachings and structure of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Proficiency in the use of various Microsoft Office applications and other tech programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive relationships with all segments of the community, provide excellent customer service, and work effectively with staff, clergy, religious, and laity.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and utilize effective time management techniques.
- Ability to always maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to carry out multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and follow instructions furnished verbally and in written format.
- Working evenings, weekends, and some holidays, including overnight travel, may be required.
- May be required to use personal or diocesan vehicles for travel to parishes, schools, or other offsite locations.
