Department Summary:The UCLA International Institute educates students, supports scholarship on the world at UCLA and serves as a campus and community resource. With a history dating back to 1958, the Institute is the central hub for global and area studies on campus. Its more than 27 centers and programs support innovative multidisciplinary research on specific world regions and pressing global issues. Its rigorous academic programs offer degrees in global studies, international development, global health, international migration and diverse regions and countries of the world.The UCLA International Institute is directed by a senior management team led by the Vice Provost for International Studies and Global Engagement, two Associate Vice Provosts and two Assistant Vice Provosts. The Office of the Vice Provost develops and implements UCLA’s global strategy, manages the university’s partnership agreements with foreign educational and research institutions, and represents UCLA to international constituencies and organizations.Position Summary:
The Administrative Officer 2 works with and reports to the Deputy Director and Director of the Burkle Center for International Relations. Major duties include event planning and management, office administration, accounting, managing the internship program, supporting relationships with Burkle Center partners, research and text editing as well as web page maintenance/computer services. Plan events ranging from simple to complex. Provide logistical support for speakers, public lectures, conferences, and special events on UCLA campus and at off-campus venues. Help speakers prepare for events, prepare briefings, coordinate venues, travel, finances, research, and marketing. Budgetary financial management, including maintaining budgets, completing purchase orders and reimbursements. Help research, write, and edit the Program's print and electronic research, outreach and public information materials. Edit, oversee and post event media, webpages, and news. Prioritize multiple tasks according to time sensitivity and importance. Working under the direct supervision of the Burkle Center Deputy Director and under minimal supervision of the Center's Director, the event-management experienced incumbent will exhibit independent thinking, good judgment, people skills, a great attention to detail while keeping the big picture in mind, resourcefulness and problem-solving skills. Work is reviewed in periodic meetings with supervisors.

Knowledge of Mac and PC based Windows Microsoft Office suite including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly known as Twitter) and LinkedIn.
