St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a Full Time Addictions Specialist Nurse Practitioner. The Addictions Specialist NP promotes excellence in patient care by advancing the quality and scope of nursing practice through clinical practice, education, consultation, research, and administrative roles in Addictions programs. The Addictions Nurse Practitioner provides high quality and cost effective medical management of patients in the critical care and acute hospital setting under the direction of the Medical Director of Addictions/Intensivist/Hospitalist physicians as privileged by the Medical Center and within its stated scope of practice. The Addictions Nurse Practitioner collaborates with the care team to coordinate and manage the process of patient care from the point of admission to the Medical Center through discharge.Masters of Science in Nursing required. Completion of Nurse Practitioner curriculum and NP Certification required. Unrestrictive active license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of West Virginia. Certification in field of specialty preferred. Comply with West Virginia Code related to attaining and maintaining limited prescriptive privileges. Must obtain and maintain prescriptive waiver as required to prescribe Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with approved Buprenorphine medications. Documentation of continued professional growth through formal education courses and/or contact hours. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in Critical Care, Addictions or related area in a hospital setting. SKILLS: Demonstrates high degree of independent action. Job requires strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong leadership and critical reasoning skills in clinical decision making, planning and organizing, initiative and ingenuity, creativity, independent decision-making, problem solving, and ability to interpret data. Positive relationship skills in working with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. Public relations and promotion of positive morale are important. Some computer skills are necessary.
